The Egyptian international gas technology company (Gastec) announced that 19 natural gas stations have been established in Cairo to maintain and convert vehicles into gas-powered ones, El Watan News reported.
Gastec also announced that they aim to increase the number of gas stations to cover more areas and more vehicles.
According to Abdelfattah Farahat, Gastec’s Chairman and Managing Director, the number of vehicles that have been converted into gas-powered ones until last June reached 267,000 vehicles.
Farahat stated that the conversion rate has increased during the last period especially after the new fuel prices, as natural gas is more cost efficient for consumers.
This aligns with the government’s plan to reduce fuel consumption and replace it with natural gas to reduce cost and increase petroleum products’ reserves.
