EGPC’s board of directors decided during an internal meeting yesterday to allow the Egyptian private sector to use the national grid for natural gas, if and when gas is imported from abroad, announced EGPC CEO Tarek El-Molla.
He stressed that this was decided for the sake of the industrial sector, easing the supply of gas in exchange for a fee for the usage of the national grid. He added that EGAS will place the necessary controls and governing codes for utilizing the grid by establishing a facility to organize the trading and importation of natural gas into Egypt, once the private sector is allowed to begin importing.
