EGAS: four foreign offers to deliver gas to Upper Egypt

Eng. Mahmoud Latif, Chairman of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) announced that the company received four offers from international companies from Russia, Germany, Ukraine and the U.S.A to carry out projects to deliver natural gas to Upper Egypt.

 

Latif said that these companies are currently surveying the areas, through which gas will be transported to the targeted areas, in order to estimate the volume of revenues they will achieve from these districts.

Currently, two Egyptian companies, Egypt Gas and Regional Gas Co. (REGAS) are executing the gas delivery operations in the governorates of Assiyut and Sohag via the 800-km Upper Egypt Gas Pipeline, starting from Dahshur ending in Aswan, with an investment up to 5.

7 billion Egyptian pounds.

 

The four international companies were not the sole offers received by EGAS. Latif highlighted that the Nile Valley Company, a local Egyptian company, submitted a request to conduct operations in the governorate of Assiyut.

 

According to the Ministry of Petroleum estimates, natural gas to be delivered to 800 households through the Upper Egypt Gas Pipeline; a plan that necessitates the involvement of the private companies specialized in this field.

 

“The Ministry’s plan of supplying six million residential units and a thousand industrial facilities and hotels in all the provinces in five years is subject to the amount of investments brought by private investments,” said a top official.
