Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), and Belgian company Jan De Nul Group, a leader in the field of submarine cables and marine energy market services.
The MoU is for starting studies of a project to export renewable energy from Egypt to Europe, and it was signed in the presence of Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Jan De Nul, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Belgian company.
The memorandum was signed by Salah Ezzat, EETC Vice President, and Wim Dhont, Manager of the Offshore Wind, Floating, and Subsea Cable Department at Jean De Nul Group.
Shaker stated that the MoU comes as an important tool to strengthen the partnership in the field of energy between Egypt and Europe.
The scope of the MoU is cooperation to begin studies in preparation for implementing a project to export renewable energy to Europe via the Mediterranean, using a sea connection line with a capacity of no less than 2 gigawatts.
