ECPC Deputy Dismissed by Petroleum Minister

The Minister of Petroleum Osama Kamal dismissed the Deputy of Operations at EGPC, Nasr Abo El-Seoud,  due to the current diesel crisis which resulted in numerous protests from minibus drivers, the primary consumers of the vital fuel.

 

Minibus drivers have staged numerous protests throughout Cairo, blocking vital freeways and disrupting commuters  The ministry stated the dismissal stemmed from Nasr Abo El-Seoud’s  inability to effectively handle the crisis.   Staff members within the operations department of EGPC protested the dismissal by staging a sit-in outside EGPC.

 

Diesel shortage is an ongoing problem that the Ministry of Supply and Interior Trade is attempting to control by implementing tighter regulations on the distribution of diesel fuel in an effort to curb black market activity.
