Alaa El-Din Abdel Fattah, Chairman of the Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM), inspected the industrial complex of its affiliate, the Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Company (ETHYDCO). The facility produces ethylene and polyethylene, which are utilized across numerous downstream industrial applications.

Abdel Fattah met with employees and expressed his gratitude for their efforts in sustaining operations, stressing the need to adhere to safety instructions and to promptly report any risks that may threaten individuals or equipment, according to a statement by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR).

As part of the visit, ECHEM convened the fourth regular meeting of the Production Committee for 2026, chaired by Abdel Fattah in the headquarters of ETHYDCO in Alexandria.

The meeting comes in implementation of the directives of Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, to intensify monitoring of operational and production status and to support integration among petrochemical companies

Abdel Fattah praised the performance levels achieved in recent periods, commending the efforts of employees in maintaining operational efficiency amid geopolitical challenges and global market fluctuations. He stressed the importance of adhering to safety regulations, which remain a top priority in the workplace.

Additionally, Abdel Fattah emphasized the importance of enhancing the efficiency of production units within the companies, strengthening coordination among them, and studying the proposed projects while determining their priorities according to feasibility and expected returns.

During the meeting, Mohamed El Bagoury, Head of Central Administration for Legal Affairs at MoPMR, discussed with company leaders the regulations that must be observed when preparing and reviewing contracts and agreements, to ensure the integrity of contractual procedures. Abdel Fattah valued the role of the Ministry’s Central Legal Affairs Department in reviewing contracts and supporting the sector’s companies.

ETHYDCO is one of the largest petrochemical manufacturing complexes in Egypt, producing polyethene used in gas, water, and sewage pipes, as well as in packaging and wrapping industries, plastic containers, tanks, ropes, and medical supplies.
