Dubai Electricity and Watar Authority (Dewa) announced that it will back the Gulf Sol 2015 regional solar summit, reported Trade Arabia, and participate in the Global Solar Leaders’ Summit.
The first event will take place from September 14-16 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the second on September 14, with participants coming from the entire MENA region.
In response GulfSol senior project manager Muhammed Kazi said: “It is an honour to receive Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s pledge of support to GulfSol 2015. We look forward to collaborating with Dewa on many elements of this important event, including the Global Solar Leader’s Summit.”
GulfSol 2015 supports UAE’s Vision 2021 for sustainable energy, according to press release by GulSol published on Zawya, adding that the Middle East Solar Energy Association (MESIA) is a knowledge partner of GulfSol.
For his part HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA said: “Dubai Electricity and Water Authority is committed to achieving its vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility. Renewable energy is a key strategic objective for DEWA , which is working to expand the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park to generate 2,600MW from renewable energy by 2030”.
