Cooperation talks with the Ukrainian Minister of Energy in Oil and Gas industry and mineral resources

On the meetings’ sideline  of the High Egyptian – Ukrainian Committee, headed by the Prime Ministers of  the two countries, Eng. Sameh Fahmy, Minister of Petroleum, held talks with, Mr. Yuri Boiko, Minister of Energy and the Ukrainian delegation, that  includes experts in all areas of oil and gas industry and mineral resources .

The Minister of Petroleum clarified that the talks are part of boosting cooperation between the Egyptian and Ukrainian parties, in the fields of oil, gas and mineral resources.

The Minister pointed out that the talks dealt with ways for bolstering cooperation between the two countries in these areas, representing the basic foundation for the development of bilateral economic relations as well as opening new areas of investment between Egypt & Ukraine.

Moreover, the Minister reviewed the outstanding results achieved by the Ukrainian company Naftogaz, operating in Egypt for the first time in the field of exploration for oil and gas in the Western Desert  region, with the Ukrainian Minister of Energy, thus  reflecting the high petroleum potential of this region.

H.E. the Minister of Petroleum pointed out that, the Ukrainian  Minister  intends to enlarge his countries investments within the field of oil and gas, during the coming period in Egypt’s  most promising  areas.

Furthermore, two petroleum agreements would be inked between the two countries for oil and gas exploration in the South Valley and Wadi El Maharees at Assiout Governorate, South Egypt.

He declared that Egypt’s global prominent position encouraged Ukraine to cooperate with Egypt in the domain of natural gas industry, as it was agreed on establishing a Joint Venture for oil and gas exploration outside the two countries. Regarding the Mining domain, the Minister clarified that the Ukrainian request for cooperation was a result of the Egyptian booming success, especially in gold exploration and phosphate production. In addition, he noted that, Ukrainian experts will visit Egypt, soon, to set the features of cooperation plans, in these promising fields.
