Butane Gas Crisis Is A Result of Weather Conditions: President Sisi

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi stated that the current butane gas shortage crisis in Egypt was caused by the wintery weather conditions that delayed the butane shipments to Egypt.

In his meeting with political party leadership for the second consecutive day, the president discussed the current butane gas crisis in Egypt after being approached with questions from attendees.

According to El-Sisi, recent low temperatures and high winds caused delays in Butane gas shipments coming to Egypt by sea.

Meanwhile, the oil and supply ministries in issued a joint statement on Tuesday, announcing that 26 thousand tonnes of Butane gas arrived to Egypt.

The statement added that currently 1.2 butane cylinders were bottled and that the 48 butane gas filling factories all over the country were working at full capacity to meet the demands of the markets..

Egypt imports more than 50% of its butane, mainly from Algeria, Libya and Saudi Arabia.
