Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Kiril Petkov expressed his country’s keenness to develop energy cooperation with Egypt in light of the friendly relations that unite the two countries.
This came during his meeting with Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The meeting discussed the possibilities and opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy in light of Egypt’s regional role as a regional natural gas trading hub, as well as the repercussions of the current global crisis on energy markets.
Additionally, El Molla highlighted the strength of relations and ties between the two countries, which makes Egypt keen to expand the scope of cooperation with Bulgaria to include the energy sector, explaining that the meeting highlighted the common desire of both sides to explore opportunities in this field.
The meeting also reviewed the developments of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) as a successful regional cooperation mechanism in the field of natural gas.
