Baker Hughes, an energy technology company, has secured a major order in the second quarter (Q2) of the year to supply US Venture Global with a liquefaction technology for the Calcasieu Pass 2 (CP2) liquefied natural gas (LNG) expansion project in Louisiana, further advancing its next phase.

The scope of work includes six liquefaction blocks for a total of 12 liquefaction modules, building on the company’s six liquefaction blocks for a total of 12 liquefaction modules, Baker Hughes said on July 27.

According to the release, each block is based on two single mixed-refrigerant (SMR) liquefaction modules and related compression trains featuring Baker Hughes’ advanced centrifugal compressor technology, as well as cold boxes, air coolers and integrated control systems. These solutions ensure faster deployment of the project with high efficiency, lower emissions, and scalable capacity.

Once complete, CP2 is expected to have an export capacity of greater than 29 million tons per year (mmt/y) with capacity for additional expansion.

Baker Hughes has provided Venture Global with over 100 million tons per year (mmt/y) of existing and planned production capacity, contributing to LNG systems at Calcasieu Pass and Plaquemines LNG facilities.
