On the occasion of OPEC’s 64th anniversary, Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi extended his congratulations to OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al-Ghais, expressing his wishes for the organization’s continued prosperity and progress.
Badawi encouraged OPEC “to keep on the pivotal and historical role of the organization in stabilizing the International oil markets worldwide, enhancing the prospects of cooperation and dialogue amongst all, while facing challenges, which contributed to achieving as well as maintaining the balance of the international market, addressing the most crucial challenges of the petroleum industry,” a statement issued by the ministry said.
In fact, Egypt is, and always will be, proud to host the historic meeting, in which the idea of establishing the organization was created in 1959 at El Maadi Yacht Club, the statement added.
Furthermore, he said that Egypt is always proud of its continuous collaboration with OPEC at all the times and its support for all the organization’s efforts, affirming its keenness to enhance mutual cooperation, looking forward to a joint meeting in order to set the foundations for further cooperation over the coming period.
