Badawi Reviews Eni’s Projects in Egypt

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi held a meeting with Eni’s Global Natural Resources Chief Operating Officer Guido Brusco during which they exchanged views on accelerating the development and production of gas and crude oil fields to secure domestic demands.

The meeting held on the sidelines of ADIPEC 2024 also reviewed the status of the exploration program for the company’s new concessions in the Mediterranean Sea and the importance of speeding up the drilling operations in these areas.

Brusco reviewed the integrated development plan for the Meleiha field in the Western Desert and confirmed the company’s commitment to the production schedule.

He also reviewed the development of the Nour field in the East Mediterranean and the company’s cooperation with Chevron to speed up the development of the Nargis field discovery.

Additionally, he emphasized the company’s commitment to the exploration and development plan in the Belayim fields, aiming to increase production and deploy two drilling rigs to complete operations in the Gulf of Suez and Sinai.

The two officials discussed a plan to drill new wells and develop the Zohr field to boost natural gas production.

They also talked about the development of the company’s fields in the East Mediterranean to transport the produced gas to Egypt’s liquefaction facilities and export it to European markets.

The meeting included discussions about the commercial plan for the development of Kronos field in Cyprus, jointly developed by TotalEnergies and Eni, and ways to connect the field to Egyptian facilities, ensuring mutual benefits for Cyprus and Egypt as well as the companies involved in the field’s development.

Both officials reviewed the cooperation and partnership between the Egyptian petroleum sector and Eni at the Damietta liquefaction plant.

The meeting discussed the new Ministry’s mechanism for securing regular payment of dues to the foreign partners to ensure continuity and sustainability of payments.

It is Noteworthy that the meeting was attended by Moataz Atef, the Head of the Central Administration of the Technical Office and official spokesman for the ministry.
