Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi recently met with Thomas Maher, CEO of Apex International Energy, and Kamel Al-Sawi, CEO of United Energy Egypt.
The meeting focused on United Energy’s acquisition of Apex’s assets in the Western Desert and the group’s strategic plans moving forward.
Minister Badawi highlighted the government’s commitment to finding sustainable solutions to address current challenges. He noted the interest of the acquiring group, United Energy, in continuing Apex’s successful operations in Egypt. This move underscores the confidence in Egypt’s petroleum investment environment and its potential for growth.
Maher assured that operations would continue uninterrupted until the acquisition is finalized. He expressed pride in the company’s achievements in Egypt, setting a strong foundation for future development.
Meanwhile, Al-Sawi outlined ambitious plans to implement an intensive drilling program post-acquisition. This initiative aims to increase production rates and mitigate natural well decline. Al-Sawi emphasized that the acquisition reflects United Energy’s strategic expansion in Egypt, driven by the country’s favorable investment climate.
Furthermore, Al-Sawi revealed plans to diversify United Energy’s activities in Egypt by incorporating renewable energy projects and hydrogen production. This strategic move aligns with Egypt’s broader energy transition goals and positions the company for long-term growth in the region.
