Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi affirmed that the great success witnessed by the EGYPES 2025 conference embodies Egypt’s important regional role and position in the energy sector, noting that the conference enjoyed wide momentum with the participation of state leaders, officials, and global investors.
The Minister extended his gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his continuous support of the energy sector, and his keenness to open the conference, which gave it great importance and confirmed the state’s interest in this vital sector.
This came during the opening speech of the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources at El Gomhoria newspaper conference ‘El-Sisi… Building a Nation… 11 Years of Struggle and Work’ under the auspices of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
Badawi added that the EGYPES 2025 conference witnessed the presence of prominent figures in the energy field, and the signing of important agreements to enhance regional cooperation, most notably with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Cyprus, in the presence of President El-Sisi and his Cypriot counterpart.
Badawi added that the ministry has developed an integrated strategy based on six main axes that are consistent with the requirements of the current stage.
The minister pointed out that positive results have begun to be achieved, including the resumption of development work in the Zohr field and the injection of new investments by Apache and other companies in oil and gas exploration, research, and production activities.
At the end of his speech, he thanked and appreciated all the workers in the sector who work 24 hours a day and spare no effort to meet the requirements of the Egyptian people and provide their needs for petroleum products and natural gas.
The conference was attended by Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population; Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment; and Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports.
