Auto Manufacturers Request Delay of Natural Gas Transition

Automobile manufacturers request a three to four months period before implementing the mass dual-fuel (natural gas/diesel) engine transition, according to Al-Mal.

Amr Suliman, CEO of Al-Amal Company and Member of the Board of Directors of the Automobile Manufacturers Association, stated that they need more time to finalize supply agreements for imported car parts needed for dual engines. Suliman added that his company is currently in talks with King Long for the said supply agreement.

Additionally, he said that the mechanisms of the project to utilize dual-fuel engines will be announced soon and is set to be implemented in various governorates. He noted that the initiative will offer car manufacturers a package of facilities and investment incentives which will be announced during the next month.

This aligns with the state’s plan to replace public transport vehicles of over 20 years with ones that run on natural gas.
