ASORC Refines 3.3 M Tons of Crude Oil in 2023/24

Maged El-Kordy, Chairman of Assiut Oil Refining Company (ASORC), reviewed the company’s key achievements during the fiscal year (FY) 2023/24. He highlighted the refinery’s success in processing approximately 3.3 million tons of crude oil into petroleum products to meet the needs of the local market.

This came during the general assembly meeting chaired by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi to review the company’s work in FY 2023/24.

El-Kordy reviewed the company’s investments in replacement and renewal programs, emphasizing enhancements in health, occupational safety, and environmental protection (HSE). He also highlighted ongoing projects, such as the construction of a new atmospheric distillation unit (CDU3) with a design capacity of 5 million tons of raw materials per year, along with its gas recovery unit (VRU3) and all related components.

The meeting further covered projects aimed at improving the performance of the two existing distillation units, upgrading current production units, constructing new storage facilities, and increasing the efficiency of 12 existing warehouses. Additionally, it discussed solar energy initiatives, carbon footprint reduction efforts, and community development projects, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to serving the local community in Upper Egypt.
