Algeria barrels in $27B in oil revenue during first 8 months

Citing national energy company Sonatrach’s chief executive, state-run Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported Wednesday that Algeria earned $27 billion in oil revenues during the first eight months of 2009.

According to Mohamed Meziane, Algeria’s revenue recorded through the end of August represents 67.6% of the expected total revenue for the year.

Chakib Khelil, Algeria’s Energy and Mines Minister, predicted that Algeria’s oil revenue would reach nearly $40 billion for 2009, a report by Dow Jones noted.
