Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has appointed Alaa al-Batal to carry out the duties of the First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR), with his supervision of health, occupational safety and environment (HSE), energy efficiency and climate affairs at the Ministry.

This comes within the framework of MoPMR’s interest in enhancing the role of health, occupational safety, and environment (HSE) as an essential pillar in the oil and gas sector’s strategy and as it represents a common denominator in all elements of the work and production system.

Additionally, the decision comes in light of the sector’s keenness to establish a culture of safety in various work sites, and the continuous development of occupational safety and health systems and policies to ensure a safe work environment and increase production rates within the state’s vision to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development.
