In continuation of the activities organized within Partnership Week between Egypt and the United Nations (UN) in Egypt, Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, and Elena Panova, Resident Coordinator of the UN in Egypt, initiated the project of using solar panels for heating processes in the Egyptian industrial sector, and the competency program for the energy of industrial engines at the Sidi Kerir Petrochemicals Company (SIDPEC), according to the Cabinet.

The program, which is being implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in partnership with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Environmental Affairs Agency and the Federation of Egyptian Industries, targets enhancing the local manufacturing environment and expanding the scope of solar energy systems in industrial heating operations, through Egypt’s Industrial Motors Energy Efficiency Project (IMEEP), with a grant of $3 million.

Th IMEEP encourages the use of energy-saving motor systems in the industrial sector and the extent of technical, financial and environmental benefits to improve the efficiency of electric motor-driven systems (EMDS) and accelerate the entry into the market for energy-saving motors in cooperation between the Environmental Affairs Agency and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
