AE&E lands steam generators service contract in Egypt

Austria’s AE&E Group has won a service contract for the Ataka power station from the Egyptian East Delta Electricity Production Company (EDEPC) for the comprehensive modernization of steam generators 1 and 2 at the power plant.

The two oil and gas fired boilers, originally built by AE&E in the late 1980s, have rated capacities of 150 MW. EDEPC is again relying on the expertise of the international plant engineering group as it moves to upgrade the facility.

The rehabilitation project will involve the engineering design, manufacturing and supply of four air preheaters, as well as four steam air heaters, and superheated and reheated surfaces, as well as modifications to the combustion system, and advisory service on assembly and commissioning.

The order is of major strategic significance for AE&E’s service business. It demonstrates that AE&E’s focus on long-term customer relationships and plants previously built by it, and the related know-how, are enabling it to make inroads in fiercely contested markets.
