Adnoc Distribution, the retail arm of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), has began talking to vehicle manufacturers of bio-fuel vehicles that run on both natural gas and petrol to encourage them to supply these models to the UAE market, a top official said.
This is part of the company’s move to expand its Natural Gas for Vehicles (NGV) project to the entire country.
“Following the positive results and feedback from the NGV Project in Abu Dhabi, Adnoc Distribution has plans to expand its future NGV programme throughout Abu Dhabi, in line with the decision by the emirate’s Executive Council to expand the use of natural gas as an alternative fuel for vehicles,” the company’s general manager, Jamal Al Zareef said.
“Besides Abu Dhabi, we plan to launch the gas stations in Sharjah and Fujairah, then we will extend it to the entire UAE.”
In the initial phase, Adnoc Distribution will set up abut 10 filling stations to offer NGV services in Abu Dhabi.
