$400m for L&T Adma-Opco Contract

Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) hydrocarbon business has progressively commissioned the $400-million Umm Lulu Phase-I and Nasr Phase-I Field development projects of Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (Adma-Opco).

The Umm Lulu field reported first oil in October 2014 and the Nasr field achieved production on January 24, 2015.

L&T undertook the full engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) scope of four well head towers (two each in Umm Lulu and Nasr) with another bridge-linked manifold tower in Nasr field, 102 km of sub-sea pipelines, fiber-optic communication cable and associated brown-field modifications on inter-connected platforms.

For production from Umm Lulu, extensive modifications were made by L&T to Zadco’s Umm Al Dalkh (UAD) central processing platform. Production from the Nasr field necessitated modifications to the Umm Shaif platform and laying a new 20-inch multi-phase subsea export pipeline to Total’s Abu Al Bukoosh facilities.

Once fully developed, the Umm Lulu field will contribute an additional 105,000 b/d and Nasr field 65,000 bpd to Abu Dhabi’s oil output.

With over 13 million safe man-hours without lost time incidents (LTI), this project has demonstrated L&T’s commitment to health safety and environment, said the statement.

This project has many firsts including the use of smart wellhead platforms in UAE; 2 KW solar power capacity on each platform; and 2500-class multi selector manifolds in inconel material weighing over 8.5 tonnes each.

The project was executed from multiple centres working concurrently. Engineering and procurement for both projects was carried out at L&T-Valdel engineering centre in Bangalore. Fabrication of the four wellhead towers, and other structures comprised over 16,000 tonnes including the critical piping of solid and clad inconel materials. The entire manufacture, including integration with sophisticated equipment and systems, complete with onshore commissioning, was from L&T’s modular fabrication yard in Sohar, Oman. With less than 0.5% weld repair rates, this project provides eloquent testimony to L&T’s impeccable quality performance, it said.
