Companies working in Benban solar park completed 30% of the solar power plants’ construction at the end of February 2019, Hesham El Gamal, Chairperson of Benban Investors Society, told Amwal Al Ghad.
A number of companies including Infinity Solar, Taqa Arabia, Alcazar Energy, and Fas Energy have started commercially running some solar stations and have linked them to the national grid as part of the $2-3 billion feed-in tariff (FiT) project implemented in Benban, Aswan.
The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy still owns a number of properties in Benban that are ready for solar plant establishments, El Gamal noted, adding that the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) is expected to launch bid rounds for investors to encourage them to take over these stations with their new efficient system.
