Siemens Added 400MW to Egypt’s Power Grid

German Siemens started running first production unit at its Beni Suef power plant with capacity of 400MW. Sources with the Ministry of Electricity stated that the ministry agreed with Siemens to start the second production unit during late November early or December, to boost total Beni Suef Plant production to 800MW, reported Al Borsa.

The company will run an additional 4 units by the first half of December with a total capacity of 1600MW. Furthermore, it will run another 4 units in Brullus plant on late December with a total capacity of 1600MW. According to the agreement, Siemens will add a total of 4000MW from Beni Suef and Burullus plants, in addition to 800MW from the News Capital plant to Egypt’s national grid within January 2017.

In related news, Siemens had boosted its net profit in the quarter ending September by 18%. This increase came from Siemens’ large power plants in Egypt.
