Zohr Production More Than Triple in H1
Production at the Zohr natural gas mega field surged in H1 2019 to reach a total of 11.3 billion cubic meters, increasing by 3.6 times compared to a year earlier.
Production at the Zohr natural gas mega field surged in H1 2019 to reach a total of 11.3 billion cubic meters, increasing by 3.6 times compared to a year earlier.
This comes as result of achieving self-sufficiency and increasing natural gas production after the implementation of 27 projects to develop natural gas fields.
Egypt’s stake in the natural gas giant field remains unchanged, the Egyptian Cabinet stressed, asserting that all the rumors circulating in the media have no validity.
Italian Eni finished establishing all the gas processing units for Zohr natural gas field in May 2019, boosting its processing capacity to 3.2 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) of gas.
Condensate production from Zohr field increased by 14.29% due to the increase in the field's natural gas output, reaching around 4,000 tons per day compared to 3,500 tons per day in 2018.
The company will complete drilling the field's 15th well in April, and with new wells being drilled and production starting by the end of May, the number of the natural gas producing wells will be boosted to 11.
The field's current production recorded over 2 bcf/d, which directly contributes to help Egypt reach natural gas self-sufficiency by the end of 2018.
The plan is to export LNG from some of Zohr's production to the European markets upon obtaining a license from the Ministry of Petroleum.
Companies involved in the $15 billion gas deal revealed the issues in the pipeline will need more work than what was initially planned to start transporting natural gas.
The company collected seismic data that revealed natural gas reserves up to 20 trillion cubic feet, which will make it second to the Zohr mega field in production.
