Cairo Electricity Production's CEO, Mohamed Mokhtar, stated that progress is underway on the Egyptian New Capital's power plant, estimated to cost $2b in investments, with 30% of the project completed.

General Electric Co. has won a $15.5b contract to supply turbines to Wudongde hydropower plant being built in China.

GE Delivers 34 Gas Turbines to Egypt

General Electric said in a statement on Friday it had delivered 34 gas turbines to Egypt out of a planned 46 turbines total as part of a project to provide 2.6 gigawatts of power to the grid by May 2015.
