Egypt Diesel Consumption Increases by 10% YOY
Egypt’s diesel consumption increased by 10% YOY in February 2019, recording 1.118 million tons, compared to 1.016 million tons consumed in February 2018.

Egypt’s consumption of petroleum products decreased by around 11.82% year-on-year (YOY) in February 2019 to 2.365 million tons, compared to 2.682 million tons in the same month last year.
Egyptian butane imports decreased by 18.78% year-on-year (YOY), reaching 160,000 tons in February 2019, compared to the 197,000 imported in February 2018.
Egypt’s natural gas output grew by 24.16% year-on-year (YOY), reaching 3.962 million tons in February 2019, up from 3.191 million tons produced in February 2018.
The total expanded pipelines reached 1.1 million kilometers (km).
Khalda Petroleum Company plans to expand its butane production in 2020 to around 120 tons per day.
The project will receive 2.5 million tons of Mazut a year from ASORC to produce 1.6 million tons of diesel, 402,000 tons of high-octane gasoline, and 101,000 tons of butane, in addition to 330,000 tons of sulfur.
The project will have 660,000 tons annual production capacity, divided into 650,000 tons of gasoline, in addition to quantities of butane and hydrogen.
The biggest two refining projects in Upper Egypt will help achieve self-sufficiency of petroleum products.
