INA Nafta discovers a large oil field in the Western Desert

The Croatian Company, INA Nafta achieved a new oil discovery, Sidi Rahman-1 located in the Western Desert, 3 km off the Mediterranean Coast, announced the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum (MoP).

Arsenal Initiates Egyptian Drilling Program

Arsenal Energy Inc. announced that drilling operations on the 5.625 million acre Nuqra concession in Egypt are underway. The first well, the SET-1, has now spudded and has a target depth of approximately 3,800 feet. The well will test a stratagrphic trap in the Jurassic zone identified through extensive seismic evaluation.

Natural gas exports down 25 percent in November 2006

Egyptian exports of natural gas and its derivatives collapsed by nearly 25 percent to $233 million in November 2006 compared with $296 million a year earlier, according to a recent report by the Cabinet Information & Decision Support Center.

Apache Appraisal Well Tests 47.6 MCFPD, Extends Syrah Field in Egypt’s Western Desert

Apache Corporation announced that its Syrah 5X appraisal well in Egypt's Western Desert test-flowed 47.6 million cubic feet (MMcf) of natural gas per day from the Jurassic Lower Safa sand, extending the Syrah Field -- located on the company's Khalda Concession -- to the northwest. The discovery well, the Syrah 1X, tested 46.5 MMcf per day from a correlative zone in March 2005.
