GE, Harbin Agree to Establish $8b Coal-Fired Plant in Egypt
US’s General Electric (GE) and China’s Harbin Electric have agreed to establish an $8b coal-powered electricity station that will run at a power of 6,510 MW in Egypt.

Hurghada Oil Spill Spreads Across 6 KM in The Red Sea
Egypt's Environment Ministry's committee reported that crude oil slicks in the Red Sea region of Gabal al-Zeit, were already floating over 6 km in the seas off northeastern Hurghada. In cooperation with the nature-reserve officials, the committee has conducted a survey to determine the path and the movement of the spills in order to contain the situation.
EGAS Launched 3rd Regasification Vessel Tender
Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) will submit a global tender for renting a third floating and storage regasification unit (FSRU) with the capacity of 750mcf/d. The vessel will boost the gas import capacity to 1.95bcf/d, from the current capacity of 1.2bcf/d.
EETC to Collect 3rd Aswan Solar Energy Installment
The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has addressed the solar energy companies’ investors in Aswan to pay the third installment of the EGP 10m cost-sharing agreement that links the solar power plants with the national electricity grid, before the beginning of July 2016.

French energy firm Engie announced in a statement that it has signed a MoU with Moroccan Nareva Holding to develop new energy projects in north and west Africa including Egypt, Ivory Coast, and Senegal.
