MoPMR Conducts Annual Marine Drill at El-Hamra Port to Test Oil Spill Response

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) has carried out the main annual marine drill for oil spills in the Mediterranean Sea at El-Hamra Petroleum Port, New Alamein. The operation aims to test the effectiveness of emergency plans for dealing with marine oil pollution incidents. It assesses the speed of response and coordination among the concerned bodies, and ensures the readiness of personnel and equipment to handle the situation, said the Ministry.

Abu Qir Fertilizers’ Net Profit Rebounds in Q1 FY2025/26

Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries Company generated EGP 3.91 billion in revenues for the first quarter (Q1) of fiscal year (FY) 2025/2026, according to its unaudited statement disclosed to the Egyptian Stock Exchange. This marked an 8% increase compared to the same period last year, which amounted to EGP 3.62 billion.

Badawi Follows Up on Seismic Survey Covering 10% of Egypt’s Total Area

Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, conducted a field visit to follow up on the commencement of seismic survey operations in the southern Western Desert, west of Assiut. The seismic survey, launched by Ganoub El Wadi Petroleum Holding Company (Ganope) in cooperation with Saudi Ardiseis, uses modern technology to collect data on oil and gas reservoirs. The survey covers vast areas exceeding 100,000 square kilometers, representing nearly 10% of Egypt’s total area.

Egypt Discovers Gas-Bearing Layer at Zohr-9 Boosting Output by 70 mmcf/d

Egypt has encountered a gas-bearing layer at the Zohr-9 well in the Mediterranean Sea, with an output of about 70 million cubic feet per day (mmcf/d), according to Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

Badawi announced the completion of drilling operations of Zohr-9 well via Saipem 10000 drillship with full adherence to safety standards and the planned timetable, within the efforts to secure local market needs and reduce the natural gas import bill.
