MoMPR, Eni Partner on Methane Emissions Reduction Workshop

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR), held a specialized workshop on Methane Emissions Management in collaboration with Italy's energy giant, Eni.
Alaa El-Batal, the ministry's First Undersecretary for Energy Efficiency, Climate, Environment, and Safety Affairs, inaugurated the event which saw a wide participation by representatives of safety, environment, energy efficiency, and production departments in the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) holding companies and their affiliates.

ETHYDCO and EPROM Form a Partnership to Enhance Operational Efficiency

The Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Company (ETHYDCO) has signed a technical services agreement with the Egyptian Projects Operation and Maintenance Company (EPROM). The agreement outlines the provision of technical services, project collaboration, and support in technical and engineering fields.

Egypt, UAE Deepen Ties in Energy Sector in Series of Meetings, Sign MoUs

During his visit to the UAE, Karim Badawi, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with his counterpart and the Chair of the International Affairs Office at the Presidential Court to discuss deepening regional cooperation between Egypt and the UAE. These two meetings were among others held with key industry leaders that concluded with signing two Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) in the maritime and energy sectors.

Egypt, Energean Discuss Expanded Energy Cooperation in Egypt

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, held a meeting with Mathios Rigas, CEO of the Greek company Energean, at the Ministry's headquarters in New Alamein City. During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to support and enhance joint cooperation in the oil and gas industry. They focused on expanding the application of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies, leveraging the Greek company's expertise and the alignment between Egypt and Greece in adopting environmental sustainability solutions and reducing carbon emissions.

Egypt, China Advance Major Petrochemical Project in SCZONE

An unbinding framework agreement was signed in the Chinese capital, Beijing, between the Red Sea National Petrochemicals Company and the China National Chemical Engineering Company (CNCEC), for the implementation of the Red Sea Petrochemical Project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).

Badawi, Shell Review Gas Investments in Egypt

Karim Badawi, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with a high-level delegation from Shell Global to discuss the latest developments in the company's natural gas investments in Egypt, particularly in the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) concession area. The meeting followed up on the results of Phases 10 and 11 of the gas production project. Both parties also discussed expansion plans, including launching new production phases in the region and exploring further promising natural gas potential.

Agiba Petroleum Boosts Production by 4,100 boe/d with “Arcadia-28” Well

Agiba Petroleum Company, a joint venture between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and IEOC, part of Italian Eni, was able to add an estimated 4,100 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) to its production capacity. The production boost is a direct result of it bringing the “Arcadia-28” well online on July 19, 2025. The well, targeting the underground rock layer formation “Masajid Carbonate”, was commissioned after a precise acid stimulation operation— a well treatment technique similar to those used in the “Iris” well, Agiba's recent oil and gas discovery located in Egypt’s Western Desert.

El-Sisi Emphasizes Petrochemicals, Mining Role in Industrial Growth

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting with Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. During the meeting, the President emphasized the importance of petrochemical and mining projects carried out by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. He highlighted their significant contribution to maximizing the added value of Egypt's natural and mineral resources, meeting local market demands, facilitating exports, and expanding related industries, as they create jobs and boost national economic returns. The President also directed that efforts to localize related industries in Egypt and attract investments to this vital sector be accelerated.

Egypt, China Agree on Joint Cooperation Protocol in Mining

The Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority (MRMIA) and China’s Hunan Institute of Geology have agreed on a joint cooperation protocol in the mining sector. The protocol involves exchange of expertise in geological, aerial surveys and mineral exploration; satellite imagery analysis and interpretation; value-added studies for mineral resources; and specialized training programs for Egyptian geologists and technical staff.

Cypriot Cronos Natural Gas Field to be Connected to Egypt by 2027

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with George Papanastasiou, Cypriot Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, in Nicosia. Senior representatives from Eni and TotalEnergies also attended. The discussion focused on the progress of Cyprus's Cronos natural gas field, which is scheduled to be linked to Egypt's energy infrastructure by 2027.
