As part of COP 27, Decarbonization Day's opening session on November 11 will be attended by top global energy and climate officials.
Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla highlighted the necessity of providing Africa with adequate financial and technological support for it to achieve a just energy transition and effectively exploit its resources.
In a meeting with Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla, US Assistant Secretary for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt expressed his country’s desire to boost its energy activities in Egypt, especially in carbon capture and storage (CCS) and natural gas projects.

On the sidelines of COP 27, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla met with the CEO of Petronas Tengku Muhammad Taufik to discuss the current investments of the company in Egypt in addition to its plans to maximize its investments during the next period.

On Decarbonization Day, the second session will shed light on the oil and gas industry's decarbonization journey in Egypt, starting from commitments to actual implementation, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said in a statement.
