Wintershall Dea affiliate, Wintershall Aktiengesellschaft (WIAG), has transferred operatorship of Contract Areas 91 and 107 on the onshore Sirte Basin to Sarir Oil Operations (SOO), according to a press release.
This announcement comes in the wake of Wintershall Dea signing two Exploration and Production Sharing Agreements (EPSA) in December 2019, whereby SOO would slowly be transitioned to operate the fields by WIAG.
This process has been facilitated by the vast majority of WIAG’s Libyan personnel being transferred to SOO and will continue to work in their previous roles.
Due to the force majeure imposed on Libyan exports, the transitional period was disrupted. However, since the resumption of production, the SOO has successfully been enabled to operate the fields in a reliable manner thanks to a comprehensive and diligent transitional period prior to the lockdown.
The SOO is a newly established joint operating company with the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC).
