TATNEFT Adopts Science-Based Targets to Reduce GHG Emissions

TATNEFT company announced that it will develop and adopt science-based targets to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and decarbonization within two years, according to a press release.

This came in terms of international Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) which has joined on the platform of “Ambitious corporate actions to prevent the over temperature occurrence above 1.5 degrees Centigrade” (Business Ambition for 1.5 C).

The company’s board of directors has approved a roadmap to achieve its plan of carbon neutrality by 2050 through gradual reduction of GHG emissions. It is, currently, implementing a program to ensure carbon neutrality along the entire value chain through the development of “green” technologies and the prevention of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere.

According to the plan, the company has to establish a product line with a lower carbon footprint and use renewable energy and biofuels. In addition the company is implementing a program of plating tress as additional compensatory measures.
