Swedish engineering firm Trelleborg has won a contract for the supply of float-over equipment for a major offshore oilfield development project in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), 4-traders informed.
The contract spans the project’s second of three engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) packages, which comprises the installation of an accommodation platform, a gas treatment platform and a separation platform, Offshore Engineer reported.
As part of the contract, the company fabricated and delivered 22 sway fenders, engineered to withstand up to 320 tons, and six surge fenders, engineered to bear 75-ton per unit, for use across each of the three platforms. Additionally, Trelleborg delivered tongue grout seals and boat landing systems, which comprise shear fenders, compression fenders and rub strips.
Developed using a specially formulated elastomeric compound and with a displacement capacity of 1600mm, the shear bearings used within the boat landing systems are the largest ever produced globally, according to Trelleborg.
Trelleborg’s floatover fenders are used to limit the motion of a topside transport barge within the confines of a jacket slot during the floatover mating operation.
This reduces the transport barge’s impact loads on the jacket legs.
