Shell Lubricants Egypt kicked off its 7th annual Shell Technology Leadership Conference (STLC) in Sahl Hasheesh, Hurghada. Under the slogan of “Together Powering a Better Future,” the conference brought together senior representatives from the corporate, government, academia, and media to share their insights on the energy transition roadmap and the industries’ significant role in accelerating this process.
Representatives and industry stakeholders also discussed the latest updates in the macroeconomic scene and the state-of-the-art sustainable practices that could help alleviate the current economic challenges.
In this occasion Ms. Amal Elsheikh, Chairwoman and Managing Director of Shell Lubricants Egypt stated: “I am thrilled that we are launching the seventh edition of the Technology Leadership Conference, driven by Shell’s strong commitment to driving growth across various industrial sectors, including mining, transportation, energy, construction, and others. In fact, over the past years, Shell has forged successful partnerships with leading industrial entities in these sectors, and our primary goal has been to be a partner and ally to support them in reaching optimal performance while reducing their total costs of ownership.”
She referred to the important role of the industrial sector in the Egyptian economy as it represented 11.7% of Egypt’s Gross domestic product (GDP). She also stressed that paying proper attention to the industrial sector is the gateway to the development and advancement of the Egyptian economy.
El-Sheikh also highlighted Shell’s efforts and contributions towards energy transition and achieving sustainability through five research centers, which directly interact with clients to offer modern and advanced technology. She added that Shell spent one billion dollars to support research and development efforts in the industrial sector.
A presentation by Daniel Icasiano – S&D GM Heavy Manufacturing Shell highlighted Shell’s Industrial Decarbonization Vision & Solutions, casting the light on their cooperation with some heavy industries that need much amount of energy and much effort for decarbonization. He called for more cooperation between all stakeholders for accelerating the decarbonization process.
He further indicated that with the help of scientific and technological solutions, we can rise up to the challenge of removing carbon emissions to usher in a new era of sustainable, decarbonized industry.
Mr. Mario Viarengo, General Manager of Industrial – Global Marketing at Shell stated: “I am thrilled to attend the 7th edition of the Shell Technology Leadership Conference in Egypt, which gives an opportunity for major industrial players to discuss key topics that shall improve the performance of the industrial sector in light of the current economic circumstances, as well as accelerating the process of achieving sustainability. The Technology Leadership Conference comes in line with Shell’s strategy that aims to adopt the latest sustainable practices paving the way for a better future.
