Qatar plans to select only one contractor to be responsible for building four new liquefied natural gas (LNG) trains or plants, according to Qatar Energy Minister Saad El-Kaabi, Zawya reported citing Reuters.
“The actual LNG trains will be given to one contractor,” El-Kaabi said in a conference in London, noting that the other work would be awarded to other contractors.
Qatar’s decision to build new LNG trains comes as part of the country’s expansion plan for its LNG production and export complex. The expansion plans will help boost LNG production in Qatar by 40%.
It is worth mentioning that Qatar has been considered the largest LNG producer in the world.
