President El Sisi to Inaugurate EGYPES 2024: El Molla

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has announced that the Egypt Energy Show 2024 (EGYPES 2024) will be inaugurated by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi which will be launched between the period 19-21 February considering this as a source of pride and a positive message to global investors that the country supports investment in this vital sector.

During a press conference, El Molla pointed out that this edition will be unique and different from the previous editions as the conference has evolved into a more inclusive, comprehensive platform for energy, adopting the current global trend in the energy industry topping with the energy transition, oil and gas decarbonization, and hydrogen production.

The minister elaborated that this transformation came as a reflection of the successful organization of COP27, highlighting the importance of integrating all energy elements into one system. He added that the conference is witnessing a huge participation from many international energy companies either current or potential investors in Egypt.

El Molla stated that the petroleum sector is working in parallel on several tracks such as reducing emissions from oil and gas production and the industrial and transformational processes of the petroleum sector and enhancing energy efficiency, which is one of the most important pillars of modernization project on which the sector worked through developing new projects and establishing departments concerned with it in all companies.

El Molla stressed that the future of the hydrogen industry in Egypt is promising due to the availability of the components, most notably the strategic location of Egypt, and that hydrogen has been present for a long time in the petroleum sector and used in the petrochemical and refining industries. He also talked about the importance of hydrogen production to Egypt and its latest developments.

The minister pointed out that the conference represents a global window for the oil and gas sector through which Egypt can present the most important things that have been developed in the industry, the opportunities, investment plans, and business strategies that will be implemented in the coming years to support the energy transition and reduce emissions.

Also, the minister thanked the partners of success in Egypt from international companies for their support of the conference, their commitment to cooperation with Egypt, and enhancing work with Egypt to support the energy transition.

For his part, Christopher Hudson, President of dmg events, which organizes the conference, expressed his appreciation to the minister stating “I would like to express our appreciation, on behalf of dmg and its partners, for the wise leadership of Engineer Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, in achieving this vital gathering for the region and the global energy community.”

He added, “EGYPES 2024 builds on its annual legacy of international cooperation to showcase advanced technologies and vital systems to achieve the global energy transition. This year, EGYPES will present pioneers from all aspects of the energy ecosystem, to showcase the innovations and technologies that move the industry to reach a zero-emissions future.”

He continued, “EGYPES 2024 will bring together the main stakeholders to play an important role in upcoming projects in the region, and with the slogan ‘Driving Energy Transition, Security, and Decarbonization,’ EGYPES 2024 refers to important expansions to new energy horizons and welcomes all stakeholders in the field of energy.”

“EGYPES conferences are held to explore collective initiatives for energy development in Egypt, Africa, the Mediterranean, and on global agendas to accelerate commitments with the aim of achieving a responsible and safe environmental system, and how international energy leaders can harness the enormous potential in adopting the appropriate energies for the future, as a cornerstone of the global energy dialogue,” Hudson also said. “For Africa and the Mediterranean, EGYPES 2024 will represent influential thought leadership on accelerating the transition to sustainable energy production, with a focus on decarbonization and methane reduction strategies.”

“EGYPES will also highlight how Egypt is being presented as an energy hub in the region and showcasing how the continent of Africa can support a sustainable movement to enable natural gas as the best transitional fuel,” he added.
