Petroleum, Transportation Ministers Discuss Timeframe for Bitumen Supplies

The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, met with Minister of Transportation, Hesham Arafat, to discuss the timeframes for supplying bitumen for national road projects, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

El Molla pointed out that bitumen is a strategic product for national projects and stressed the readiness of the oil and gas sector to assist the Ministry of Transportation in completing its projects on-time.

El Molla confirmed that the imported bitumen had almost reached the Suez region in addition to the shipments arriving into Alexandria. Importing the product into two locations helps avoid any obstacles that may occur if Egypt relies on a single point of entry.

Egypt further increased the strategic stocks in both regions, as a part of the Ministry of Petroleum’s keenness to be ready to quickly meet all the needs of national road projects implemented across the governorates.

Meanwhile, Arafat stressed the need for coordination between the two ministries to complete the national road projects on-time. He added that the petroleum sector is a key partner in the success of the ongoing projects.
