Petroleum Ministry Injects Fuel in Market before Eid

The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources will inject more fuel into the Egyptian markets ahead of Eid El Adha and the back-to-school season, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

The ministry will increase the diesel and gasoline reserves stored in warehouses across Egypt to cover ten days of consumption. In addition, it will provide filling stations, especially on highways, with enough diesel and gasoline for at least 20 days.

The ministry, along with marketing companies and Petroleum Arrows Company, will prepare tanker vehicles loaded with petroleum products to wait on highways to respond quickly to local demand.

The ministry will pump one million butane cylinders per day during September and will prepare 100,000 filled cylinders at Petrogas. The Petrogas factories will be working two shifts at full capacity during Eid El Adha.

The ministry has also implemented procedures to ensure sufficient deliveries of jet fuel throughout the El Haj season. The ministry increased its production of jet fuel by 24% from the same period in 2016, pumping 93,000 tons. It also ensured that 100,000 tons were distributed to airports across the country to meet the needs of returning pilgrims.

The government also secured enough bitumen to cover the estimated demand for 3,000-4,000 tons per day over the holiday. Bitumen factories will produce a total of 10,000 tons of bitumen and the country will also receive an additional 6,000 tons of imported bitumen.
