Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has denied social media reports circulating about new prices for petroleum products, saying the figures being shared are false and do not reflect current prices in the local market.

The ministry said the Automatic Pricing Committee for Petroleum Products has not met yet and has not issued any new decisions on fuel prices. As a result, the prices circulating online have no basis in any official decision.

The ministry urged citizens not to follow or share unverified information and to rely on official statements issued by the relevant authorities for updates on petroleum product prices.

In March 2026, the ministry raised prices of all octane gasoline grades, compressed natural gas (CNG) for cars, and butane, effective March 10, citing exceptional circumstances in international energy markets. The increases put 95-octane gasoline at EGP 24 per liter, 92-octane at EGP 22.25, 80-octane at EGP 20.75 and diesel at EGP 20.50.
