Operations at Libya’s Zueitina Port Halted

Operations at Libya’s Zueitina port ceased on Saturday after workers protested working conditions and demanded the payment their salaries, Reuters reports.

Zueitina serves as an export terminal for Zueitina Oil Company—a joint venture of the National Oil Company, Occidental Petroleum Corporation, and OMV AG.

The local union leader, Merhi Abridan, told Reuters that between 3,600,000 to 3,780,000 barrels are exported from the site on a monthly basis.

Libya has also recently experienced production halts at the Sharara field, its largest oil field, Bloomberg reports.
