An Egyptian official stated that Margo Marine Oil Transportation Company’s Sea Star Oil Vessel has capsized in the Red Sea near Abu Rdees city. The accident resulted in the death of one Egyptian sailor and the injury of two crew members, including the vessel’s captain, reported Al Mal News. He added that two persons were missing, while search and rescue teams combed the area in order to location the missing crew members, according to Sky News Arabia.

The official did not provide any additional details regarding the circumstances surround the vessel’s sinking and the reasons behind the incident.

In related Egyptian oil maritime news, Egypt Oil&Gas reported in June that an oil spill had occurred due to the explosion of a buoy in a petroleum oil platform at Hurghada. A committee from Egypt’s Environment Ministry had informed that crude oil slicks in the Red Sea region of Gabal al-Zeit, were floating over 6km in the waters off the northeastern shores of the city. The committee accused a petroleum company of neglect in causing the leak.
