National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC)’s Exploration Directorate drilled nine exploratory wells with a total depth of 13,281 meters in the current Iranian calendar year (ends on March 19), Tehran Times reported.
Deputy Director for Technical Affairs at NIOC’s Exploration Directorate, Mohammadreza Hor, announced that in addition to completing three wells in Forouzan, Mansouri and Deng fields, the company has started drilling works in West Marun, Ram and Chelingar onshore fields. In addition, operation trials for Arman exploration well is currently underway.
NIOC will begin drilling Siri and Yalda fields offshore fields in collaboration with Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC). Hor added that the company currently has seven drilling rigs and is planning to add an eighth drilling rig.
Hamidreza Khoshayand, the Deputy Head for Drilling Operation at National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC)’s, a subsidiary of NIOC, said that from March 2019 until February 2020, the company has completed 100 well-digging operations.
He noted that of these 100 wells; two of them were exploration wells; 35 development wells; and 63 workover ones.
