Natural Gas Production Increases by 15.7% YOY

Egypt’s natural gas output increased by around 15.7% year-on-year (YOY), producing 3.9 million tons in May 2018, compared to 3.4 million tons in May 2017, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

Statistics published by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reveal that consumption of natural gas in Egypt rose by around 6.98% recording 3.91 million tons in May 2018, up from the 3.65 million tons consumed in the same month of the preceding year.

In July 2018, Ossama El Bakly, head of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), said that Egypt produced 24.6 million tons of natural gas during the first four months of 2018.

According to El Bakly, 24.9 million tons were consumed during the same period, slightly exceeding domestic production.
