Power Station Running on Solar Energy Launched in SCZone

In an effort to support green hydrogen and clean energy production, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker has launched power station operated by solar energy with capacity of 10 gigawatts per year in cooperation with Enara Capital company at the Jushi plant which is one of the fiberglass plants at the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).

Shaker said that great effort is exerted by the Ministry in this regard to reach the country’s strategy of producing 42% of its power from new and renewable energy especially from solar and wind energy by 2030.

SCZone Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dein stated that the launch of this project at such plant is a great step towards energy transition. He added that this project came in line with the government directives towards using clean energy at SCZone.

For his part, Wu Ping, General Manager of Jushi in Egypt, expressed his pleasure for this partnership noting that the plant involves three production lines with capacity of 200,000 tons per year and achieve annual production estimated at $220 million with exporting revenues of $200 million per year.
