The Ministry of Finance has officially negated rumors circulating social media platforms regarding changes in the prices of fuels and petroleum products, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

The rumors originated through a fake Facebook page that fraudulently used the ministry’s name and logo to mislead the general public, the ministry said in a statement.

Furthermore, the ministry stated that those behind the fake page are being tracked, with all the needed legal procedures being taken to hold them accountable and close the counterfeit page.

Calling upon media sources not to pay attention to suspicious social media pages, the ministry stressed that it already has an official website, as well as pages on Facebook and Twitter, where it publishes reliable information and updates on the ministry’s activities and the Egyptian economy’s recent developments and indices.
