Kuwait Energy Egypt Funds Teacher Development Program, “The Educator Certificate”, Ras Gharib, Red Sea Governorate

Kuwait Energy Egypt has funded  the teacher development program “The Educator Certificate” in partnership with the school of Continuing Education of American University in Cairo. The program successfully took place from November 2019 to July 2020 at Ras Gharib, Red Sea Governate.

The program’s duration was 90 hours, designed especially for primary and elementary governate school teachers at Ras Gharib and provided them with the required and necessary training within a framework of a communicative teaching approach, interactive instructional strategies, which built up trainees’ teaching competencies while planning classroom tasks and activities.

“Our aim is to positively impact the people in the local community economically and by providing exceptional educational service,” the company said in a statement.

The training was conducted in Arabic language. It targeted Arabic, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies teachers. Teachers were offered a venue for the training program, they had to register by filling application. Then, the accepted applicants were invited to the interview phase. Finally, around 75 trainees of the teachers were selected for enrolling in the program after passing the examination and interview process.

Following the measures which have implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program was suspended until emergency remote teaching was applied. Afterwards, the training was resumed successfully online.

“We have been committed to all learners in order to continue the training. Consequently, we provided the trainees with free internet package and oriented them with the digital tools and requirements needed to effectively complete it,” the company said.

During the sessions, the participation and performance have been closely monitored. Also, all inquiries have been answered through discussion panels and other ways to enhance the participants’ engagement.

“Despite the challenges that we have faced at the beginning of the virtual training, this experience provided an opportunity to introduce to the trainees the different online learning solutions platform to make better use of distance learning and digital tools which they may need them in the teaching techniques afterwards. The knowledge sharing and communications keep us together even virtually,” the statement added.

Finally, trainees have successfully passed the training and examination. Additionally, the certificates were issued to them.

“Thank you to the expert trainers for their distinguished efforts in helping the teachers achieve this success, said the company, which is planning to launch a closing event “after Covid’19 comes to end” in order to celebrate the graduation of the trainees and give them the chance to share their experience with their colleagues.
