Egypt will achieve self-sufficiency in diesel and gasoline very soon, Osama Kamal, the Former Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources told TEN.
Kamal said that Egypt previously had a wide gap between production and consumption, which negatively affected the economy during the last period. However, the state has managed to bridge this gap through several new discoveries
Commenting on the recent meeting between President Abdel Fatah Al Sisi and Eni’s CEO, Claudio Descalzi, Kamal noted that the Italian company is a strategic partner to Egypt that had proven its efficiency in many projects in Egypt especially in Zohr field where it was able to reach more than 6,000 kilometers (km) undersea.
